Reading your pension statement and mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl

mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl shows every pension you build up through work in one place, next to your AOW. For the calculator you need the yearly amount before tax from each fund, and the age it starts.

Where to find your pension

Log in to mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl with DigiD. It's run by the pension funds and insurers together, and shows what you've built up with each of them, plus your AOW from the SVB. Rijksoverheid points to it as the place to see how much pension you build up.

Each fund also sends a yearly statement, the UPO (Uniform Pensioenoverzicht), for its own pension. It shows the same figures in more detail, including what you'd get if you stopped working there now.

Which number to use

For each pension, look for the yearly amount from its pension age, before tax. That's the figure the calculator asks for as "Gross pension", per person, with the age it starts.

What to enter
each fund's yearly amount before tax, added up for the funds that start at the same age

Check what the page shows before you copy a number. The headline can be an estimate per month, or after tax, while the list per fund shows the yearly amount before tax. Use the list.

Don't add the AOW here: it has its own field, with the “gross per year” amount from the “My pension” tab, under “From 67 years and 3 months”. The big number at the top of the page is net per month and includes your pension through work, so it isn't the AOW.

Why it's shown before tax

Funds and the SVB show pensions before tax because the tax depends on everything else you get that year. Once you've reached your AOW age, your AOW and every pension are taxed together, at lower rates than while you work, because the AOW premium stops.

So the calculator asks for the amounts before tax and works the tax out itself, for each year, on your pensions together. A net figure from one fund on its own would count its tax as if it were your only income.

When it starts

Every scheme has its own pension age, often 68, which can be later than your AOW age. Many schemes let you start earlier, from 10 years before your AOW age, for a lower pension for life; your fund's planner shows how much lower. A later start than your AOW age makes your Pension Bridge longer, because your savings pay until the last pension starts.

If your fund has moved to the new pension law

Under the new pension law (the Wtp), every scheme moves to a personal pot by 1 January 2028, and many already have. Your statement then shows what you'd get if nothing changed, but the payout moves with the markets, before and after it starts. Use the expected figure in the calculator, and look again each year.

Questions people ask

What's the difference between the UPO and mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl?

The UPO is the yearly statement each pension fund sends you about its own pension. mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl takes the figures from every fund, and from the SVB for your AOW, and shows them together.

You've had several jobs. Do you have several pensions?

Often, yes. Each fund keeps what you built up with it, and pays it from its own pension age. mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl lists them all; add up the ones that start at the same age.

Why is the amount different each year?

Because you keep building it up, and because funds under the new pension law invest a pot for you that moves with the markets. The statement shows what you'd get if nothing changed, and some show a pessimistic and an optimistic figure too.

Do you need DigiD?

Yes. You log in to mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl with DigiD. Your fund's own site, where you can see your UPO, usually uses DigiD as well.
